Over The Weekend

This weekend was rainy.

Which resulted in a lot of extra inside time.

There were a lot of forts made of blankets built over the last few days.

(Which means the floor is still currently littered with those blankets along with the random paraphernalia stacked on the tables to hold those blankets together.)

And the Lego spaceships and houses and twelve-person cars created have been legendary.

(Which means that the floor in Bergen’s room is now a carpet of Lego bricks.  Painful, sharp Lego bricks.)

These girls were invited for a sleepover at the Boone house.

Riley had some friends over to watch movies and eat popcorn.

I played with new themes and layouts on ye olde blog here.

And, oh yeah, I ran in my second-ever 5K race with Riley.

This race was not exactly the same as my first-ever race last May.

There was a lot more rain this time.

But I wore the exact same outfit.  (Because I apparently only own one running outfit.)

I still strongly dislike littering, if it is acceptable to thrown down my cup of water and even if I can’t really imagine what the alternative would actually be.

I was reminded, however, that encouragement from strangers is legitimately encouraging.

And I learned that I probably need a refresher course in measuring distance, because when the helpful man on the bike said that only 200 yards were left in the race I decided that that sounded like a good point to begin sprinting.

It was not.

200 yards is like – uh- the length of two football fields or something.

Last year, the miracle for me

was that I finished the race.

This year,

the miracle for me was that

for all 5 kilometers,

I never stopped running.

And you know what that means?

Yeah – it means that I’m a runner.

I like the new layout! And yeah for you! Page and I are doing a 5 K for his work on the 17th. Yeah, my goal is to run the whole way……..we'll see…….I so despise running.

So fun to run with Page.
I never liked running before either – but remember – we like eating. So run to eat!

      Thanks!
I think I like the layout but I played with so many that I just got tired eventually. 🙂

Woo hoo! Great for you on running the entire race. I'm in my first 5k this coming weekend in Summerville for the Flowertown Classic. I'm hoping to just finish, but would love it if I could run the entire time. However, my training hasn't been that consistent and I'm NOT a runner. 🙂

      Good luck this weekend!

My training was certainly sub-par too – so I am sure you can do it!!

And if you are running a 5K – then you ARE a runner!

      Good luck this weekend!

Oh – and you know, if you are running a race then you ARE a runner!

top half in your age group! You have to measure your progress relatively, percentiles of your age group competition.

    Yes, you are a runner!
