The Post Where I Review LuLaRoe and Succumb to Posting Photos of Myself
Alright you guys.
In some ways this post is kind of like other posts I have written before.
I’ve had a fun opportunity to receive some clothing in exchange for writing a review about said clothing. (In all honesty – here’s how it worked: I purchased a few of these clothes myself. I was given a few of these clothes to try. So. Both. You know. I like to be straightforward so hopefully you can trust my opinion. Which is, just, you know, an opinion, after all. But here it is nonetheless.)
So – the “writing my opinions about stuff” post is routine enough for me – right?
But – the part that is NOT like other posts is this: I had my children or my friends take pictures of me in the clothes so you could see for yourself what the clothes look like on regular people.
I felt like I had to – like it was part of the deal, right?
I get the privilege of bartering my words for clothes in my closet. Taking photos seemed like a decent price to pay, that is – until I awkwardly stood places and asked people to take my picture.
That feels weird, alright?
It’s just not my normal. “Here kids, take a picture of Mommy wearing this dress.” “Uh – Amanda, can you take a picture of me for the thing I’m going to do?”
Nah. Not words I normally utter.
Anyway, it happened and here we are. Might as well just get started.
My friend Jessica recently began a new role as a LuLaRoe consultant.
Until Jessica, I had actually never heard of LuLaRoe. At least – not that I realized. One of my favorite shirts that Jo wears is apparently LuLaRoe. Which maybe she told me before but I had no point of reference so I just thought it was a cool shirt.
I’m still new to the game, but here’s what I know about LuLaRoe so far:
You can’t buy their clothing from a cataloge.
You can’t buy their clothing on a sales rack at a store.
You buy their clothing from a regular person who sells it – either in her home or in your home or some place like that.
Apparently LuLaRoe creates a limited number of prints in each style and when the prints are gone, they’re gone!
Here’s what I like about LuLaRoe:
They’re sort of like a uniform to me. And I mean that in the best possible way.
I already wear a basic uniform. I think we all kinda do. In the winter I wake up and I put on a pair of leggings and then usually a skirt or a dress and then maybe a sweater on top if it’s extra cold. The end. Every day. Sure, some days the leggings are black and some days polka dotted and some days striped. But leggings and boots are all I care about come fall to spring. (And if you must know, my favorite part of ANY outfit is the boots. Always the boots.)
LuLaRoe works a lot like that uniform.
They offer a variety of styles of dresses and shirts and sweaters and leggings. All with a name for each style. Randy. Julia. Nichole. Amelia. And so on. You get it.
Now here comes the really best part for a person like me who actually cannot stand to go shopping but yet likes to wear the pretty clothes.
Once you’ve tried on the styles and seen what fits and what you like and what size you wear, you’re pretty much done shopping. As in, you write down your sizes beside the names on a handy little card you can get from your LuLaRoe consultant – like my friend Jessica – and then you can just look online – HERE – and order any color scheme you like because you already know everything you need to know. (And, by the way, it’s worth it to try on all the styles. Even the ones you think don’t appeal to you at first. Sometimes you are surprised. And – you can be one size in one style and another size in another style. So try the clothes on. But – you only have to try them on ONCE!)
Jessica is constantly sponsoring events on Facebook where you can win free leggings – I know because I won once! (Actually – I won TWO pairs – one for me and one for a friend! I like winning for friends!) And the leggings colors and patterns are ENDLESS. (Which might feed an addiction. Like an enabler. IF you had a leggings addiction, that is.) You can also host a party – at your house or Jessica’s – and just like all good hosting parties of this sort, YOU get free clothing for hosting.
I’m not saying I’ll buy LuLaRoe clothes only as long as I live. (Because that would be a silly promise to make.) But I’m quite happy to add to my wardrobe more uniform basics that look anything but basic. I love the simplicity of dresses – you look put together and it required ZERO thought or planning. (Man, you pair these cute dresses with lovely Noonday earrings and a pair of thrift store Frye boots and you have all the style a mom of six like myself can actually handle anyway.)
I have found that being careful not to toss these clothes in the dryer is wise. But, truthfully, I rarely use the dryer for any of my t-shirts or dresses and very few of my skirts. The dryer is just too hot and tends to shrink clothing that I would not like to have shrunk.
Okay, I’ve put it off long enough.
Let me just show you the pictures and be done with it.
Let’s start with the leggings. They are CRAZY soft and they come in a bazillion prints or just basic normal regular colors too. (I like both basic AND rowdy.) The leggings are sold either in One Size or in Tall and Curvy. One Size sounds impossible. I hear you. But. The same leggings that I can wear right now my eight months pregnant daughter can wear too. That’s weird – I know. I’m not pretending to try to understand it. I’m just telling you it really works.
Here’s a pair I am wearing right now.

The other pair I have I wore on our recent apple picking adventure.
I asked Amanda to take a few pictures for me. I should have known it would get ridiculous. Renee and Erica only made it seem more silly as we laughed and jumped around. You know, to prove how flexible the leggings were. Yeah, we’re grown ups. Whatever.

Eh. If I can embarrass myself and my kids in the grocery store with songs, surely I can embarrass myself here on this tiny square footage of blog space with ridiculous photos.
Alright. Moving right along.
Next up is a shirt called the Randy. This is the style of shirt Jo owned that I always liked when she wore it. It’s such a fun style and cut and I really like it. Good with jeans, skirts, sweaters on top and all that jazz.

I like the variety in each one of the Randy shirts – some are patterned sleeves, some patterned body, some no patterns. They’re nice.
By the way, Mosely took the photo above for me. You should see the other fifty shots she took first, where I am about thirty yards from her and she only gets my head in the picture. Good stuff you guys. Good stuff.
And then there’s my favorite one so far. The Julia. It’s just a simple simple dress. No effort at all. Look in your closet in the early morning. Put on one dress. And a pair of boots. Or a pair of shoes. You are done. Ta-da.

Piper Finn was my photographer on this one. She really got into her role and offered me advice and tips on posing. Classic.
There are so many more styles and options. And I think it’s been neat too to see how Jessica has enjoyed this new avenue of business and has embraced helping women find clothes that flatter and fit and make them feel good about themselves.
Despite feeling a little goofy and self-conscious posing for all the pictures, I had fun trying out the variety of styles and I love what I have purchased and received so far from LuLaRoe.
Also – Bergen wasn’t the only one who got to go for a joy ride in a cool Jeep last week.
Apparently, LuLaRoe works for the Jeep lifestyle too, my friends. (By the way, Jane believes there’s some sort of secret code amongst Jeep owners – like a special Jeep wave or something. Jeep people – is that a thing?)
Anyway, I liked that Jeep ride about as much as Berg did. Guess it’s a sign I better start saving my money for a Jeep.
Won’t Hawkeye be thrilled?
