Adventure: Day Two

Day two.

It’s like this.

Internet service is sketchy in the mountains.

We are traveling with six children who are off their normal routine of eating and sleeping. One of them is not yet even two years old.

I can only type this post from my iPhone. And we do not always have service. As previously mentioned. And I do not yet know how to add a photo to a post through the iPhone.

King Solomon is that good. I am not.

So.

Forgive this abbreviated post. Please check out the many photos I have been sending through Twitter. (When it is available.). And trust that when I return home I will add further photos and details and laughs and stories.

Yesterday we hiked a trail in the Smoky Mountains with a tour guide named Charles. He was great. We learned that buckeyes can be crushed and tossed into a stream to stun the fish so you can easily catch them. Which would be helpful. If I liked eating fish. Or knew where to locate a buckeye tree.

Our kids had some fun photos taken of them while we hiked by Pat and Melissa – two NOC employees. They were also great. Piper Finn looked so adorable wearing her tiny backpack and using her walking stick.

You know what was in her black backpack? Granola bars. And Eagle. Of course.

We hung out for the entire afternoon at the Nantahala Outdoor Center’s Great Outpost in downtown Gatlinburg. It is no exaggeration to state that the Outpost is definitely the coolest store in the whole town.

Most all of us attempted their rock climbing wall. Only Kevin reached the top and rung the bell. (Show off.)

London wants to go back tomorrow and buy a little stuffed puppy named Scout. Which I am sure is a purchase I will authorize. I am a sucker for any product that says one of my children’s names in any form.

We found a pair of Tevas on sale for the girls for only $15. They aren’t Keens, of course, but the price is right.

The restaurant we chose for dinner was a mistake. (More on that later.)

Currently Kevin has taken the girls (minus Finn) white water rafting and I am hanging out with the three youngest until they return.

Ta-da.

I give you . . . . my first post typed entirely on my phone.
