if you need to laugh. no pictures included.

This is a true story.

Pretty much every day since last fall I have worn a pair of leggings.

I mean, so has everyone else – right?

Frequently I wear a skirt over said leggings. At least, this is my preferred fashion choice if my sweater is not long enough to cover my rear. (You all can wear your shirts and leggings any old way you want to. I don’t care. I just care about my own bum being covered.)

And most every night, sometime after dinner, I decide that it’s time to take the skirt off and just wear the leggings because it’s just me and the kids and I’m not going out in public any longer at that point.

Often I do not wait to go into my bedroom or bathroom to pull the skirt off, I just do this wherever I am when the thought occurs to me. I mean, what difference does it make? I’m wearing leggings, right? It’s my house.

Well.

On Sunday I thought the weather might be as warm as it had been Saturday. In the morning, I put on the skirt, per usual, but I did not put on the leggings. I just wore a skirt and a sweatshirt and that was a perfectly acceptable attire choice for my day.

And then, that evening, after the kids and I finished our read aloud and everyone was brushing their teeth or getting water or taking vitamins or standing around avoiding going to bed, I stood up from the chair in the living room.

I thought to myself, “Hey, why are you still wearing this skirt? You should get comfy for bed.”

And so I stood in my living room and pulled my skirt off. No thoughts whatsoever.

Until I heard Bergen gasp and say, “Mom! What are you doing?”

And then I remembered that I was NOT wearing leggings.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say I started laughing so hard and for so long that I couldn’t even remedy the situation.

It was just too hysterically funny to me.

Maybe the days have been filled with somber news for too long, with cancellations and fear and anxiety.

Maybe I needed to laugh more than I realized.

Of course, at this point every kid is watching and I don’t know what they’re more concerned with – the fact that mom is convulsively laughing and crying and wheezing or the fact that she is doing all of the above WHILE NOT WEARING PANTS!

Anyway.

That really happened yesterday.

Lol. That was just way too funny. I came across your blog after checking out the colorku on Timberdoodle. At almost 4 in the a.m. staring at homeschooling ideas I could use a break! A wiser person would have been went to bed.
