Five Finds Friday (twenty) (a video you have to click to watch & beef stew)

FUNNY

I love having a lot of kids.

Seriously – I think I would have another two or three if circumstances were, you know, different than they are.

Today we had friends over and Otto came careening into the house full force, grabbing my hand and saying I just HAD to see what was happening in the field.

I left the dishes (that was an easy task to abandon) and careened right back outside behind him.

He was right.

I just HAD to see this:

You actually have to take the time to click the link to watch the twelve second video.  I understand if that requires too much effort.

(YOU GUYS!  Why are so many aspects of this internet/posting life so challenging to me?  Why can’t I make a video appear where I want it?  Why do my pictures turn sideways sometimes? WHY?)

FASHONABLE

These trail pants are the best for kids.

They zip off into shorts.  They resist stains.  They endure through kid after kid.  They’re lightweight and they still look good.

And.

They are on sale at REI Outlet right now – and an extra good deal if you use your Member’s 20% off and your REI dividend.

FLAVORFUL

I’ve never made good Beef Stew.

Until Monday.

After our day of hiking I felt like a Home Making Rock Star to enter the house to a delicious smell and a hot dinner ready to serve hungry hikers.

And it tasted so good.

FAITHFUL

Myra sent me this powerful little bit of an article.

About hope.

And scars.

I love this line:

The scar will never leave,

and hope doesn’t hide the hurt life leaves behind.

But it can be the lens that changes everything.

FEELS

Our keys got locked in the car after our tutoring session this week.

(Notice I said “our keys” – I didn’t blame anyone.  Because no one at our home seems to know who actually caused the mistake.  Ah, well.  Who cares?)

Anyway.

There we were – all locked out and stuff and waiting in an empty driveway.  (The sun was shining though and the morning was lovely, that wasn’t too bad.)

I called my eldest daughter – the one human being Most Likely To Answer Her Phone At Any Given Time.

She. Did. Not. Answer.

Actually – the kids and I got a hearty chuckle out of that irony.

But Jo answered.

Ah – sweet and lovely Joanna.

And she stopped what she was doing mid-day and loaded up her three children and drove to our home, located the extra key (thank goodness we have one now!) and drove out to the tutoring office and rescued us from ourselves!

Hooray for good friends!
