Piper Finn Willow

four. 4.

Tomorrow she turns four.

She loves unicorns and princess and dresses and cuddling with her daddy.

We love her knock knock jokes and the way she pronounces “ch” and her quick laughter and her many names.

One. Two. Three. Four.

Piper, we just could not love you more.

    I can't believe it.
Well, yes I can. I do believe it.
    I just don't want to.
I don't want to believe that she's growing out of baby and into girl, and that I've (distantly) watched that change.
I don't want to believe that I had just completed my first summer on staff when she was born.
I'm not a fan of this more and more familiar feeling of aging.
    I remember too many things.
Happy Birthday Piper! I love you!

      I know.
I know and I know and I know.
But it is a blessing to "age" with you – to be able to say "remember when?" and for you to say "yes, I do."
