Piper Finn Willow

and now a word from this kid . . . .

Because it has simply been too long.

Because my posts have not been all that funny for a few days.

Because she is standing near me and asking me what she can do.

Because I can.

Today, I give you, an exclusive look into the mind of Piper Finnian Willow Lacey, age 3.

Me: What should I ask you today?

Piper: Ummm.  (Thumb lodged in mouth.) I like birds.  I want to talk about birds.

Me: Perfect. What about birds?

Piper: I like birds.

Me: Right.  What do you like about them?

Piper: I like seeing their wings.

Me: Where do you normally see birds?

Piper: At our house.

Me: Where?

Piper: Um-uh. Outside.

Me: What types of birds do you see?

Piper: Red robins.  That’s it, Mom.

Me: What should we feed the birds?

Piper: Seeds.  But that’s all.

Me: Okay.  Why are you still wearing your pajamas?

Piper: I didn’t know why.  But that’s it.

Me: Oh, you mean that’s it for this interview?

Piper: UmHmm.

Me:  Why?

Piper: But that’s not all.  Some more things.

Me: Good.  What things?

Piper: Things that I’m already not be tooken.

Me: Whuh?

Piper: Things that even can’t be tooken. (Said louder.  And with a greater degree of frustration.)

Me: I don’t really know what that means.

Piper: That’s all.

Me: What’s all?

Piper: Never mind.  This is not all.  I like to feed the birds.

Me: Good.  Back to the birds.  Um.  If you could be a bird – would you?

Piper: Yes.  If I was a bird I would choose you as a Momma.

Me: You would?

Piper: Uh-huh.

Me: Why?

Piper: Because.  Just because.

Me: I like that answer.

Piper:  (Laughter through thumb.)

Me: What’s in your arms right now?

Piper: Um. Eagle and Coconut.

Me: What is Coconut?

Piper: Coconut is a kind of – a kind of him – because he’s black and white.   See him?  (Holding up a brown toy.)  See his patch?  It says Coconut. (Holding up the tag that says zhu zhu pet.)

Me: Hey Finn.  What else do you have to say?

Piper: I like the birds.

Me: We know.

Piper: But that’s all.

Me: Piper – what would your bird name be?

Piper: It would be Bird.

Me: Just Bird?

Piper: Umhmm.  But that’s it.

Me: Wait – that’s it for this interview again?

Piper: Yeah.  But that’s all.

Me: Are you sure?

Piper: Yeah.   I’m sure.
