The Chronicles of Avoiding Wal-Mart

Day One: I needed a few groceries.  I shopped at our local Bi-Lo  . . .   avoided the yellow smiley face, earned fuel perks points and saved $46 on a $106 grocery trip with their daily double coupons.

Kevin even joined my shunning and purchased the just-released Where the Wild Things Are at Target instead.

Day Two: Received an e-mail requesting me to complete an opinion survey about my recent site-to-store purchase.  You better believe I was excited to spend my ten minutes filling out that puppy.  And there was even a space to add my own comments – so I told them about our little shun.

(Do you think a Wal-Mart representative will ever visit this website now?)

this is interesting. my family shuns target now. it is really a hard experience for me but according to my daddy, "Target is a French-owned company. & the French don't support the troops." I just cry a small bit for my fabulous Target bathing suits.that I now do not get to buy 🙂

I don’t know if I care to explore the truth of that claim or not – I really likes me some Target.

i saw this posted on abbeys site and have to say i also am shunning walmart. i went one night without kids and took an hour and got everything on my list and went to check out. took 30 minutes but without kids i just stood there and read a magazine 🙂 UNTIL i go to pay and the girl tells me that the credit card machine was broken and had been down all night. (shouldn't they have made an announcement?) and that it wasn't going to be fixed anytime soon. At that point a manager – who looked 16 came over and told me i needed to write a check and became rude and mean when I told him I didn't have my check book – who writes checks now anyways at walmart. when i have in the past they get annoyed that it takes longer for them. so anyways I had to leave over $100 worth of groceries just in the cart there and came home empty handed. a waste of what ended up being 2 hours. and i still needed to go out and get groceries. so in the past 6 months i have gone to walmart 3 or 4 times and only when i absolutely have to but with coupons i have actually managed to spend less at the grocery store. and when i need to target might be a few dollars more but its a much more enjoyable experience with kids and they are nice and very helpful there.
