Bergen Hawkeye,  Framily

five finds friday (berg keeps being funny, trip highlights and delicious drinks)

Without school to guide me, I just don’t know what day of the week it is.

Also – side note: I can see that my Mailchimp subscribing idea is not working correctly. I see that it sends you an email but the mail contains nothing. No link. No post. Just annoyance.

I’m angry at Mailchimp.

And I want another idea or option so I’m going to start working on that. After the ranch. Or something.

In the meantime, if any of you know a better mass mailing/subscribing option, I’m all ears. Better yet – if any of you want to magically make that happen, I’ll pay you – in London Fog beverages or actual cash.

Five Finds Friday

funny

I asked Bergen if he had finished his chores.

He said, “Mom, of course I did. You always expect so little of me. You’re always surprised when I have done my chores like you asked.”

I looked at his teen face.

He grinned. And said:

“Of course – I HAVE spent my entire life trying to keep your expectations VERY low.”

fashionable

I don’t really have anything fashionable. I did buy two of those nearly prairie dresses with some sort of ruffles on them that Target has been selling and I do plan to wear them at the ranch and I’m not even sorry about it.

Also. Confession. When I packed for our Texas trip last week I realized we had loads of extra room in our rented car. (Two kids did not accompany us and that provided a lot of extra space.) I allowed myself to pack one bag full of shoes just in case I might want to wear them and now I realize I have a problem. I justified my actions by saying that the shoes were really for me and any of my daughters since four of us currently wear the same size – something that is both convenient and maddening.

Also – what is really fashionable is this photo of these boys.

flavorful

I haven’t been cooking much lately – between trips and my dad visiting and kids making meals – I have not spent a lot of time whipping up food.

I am not complaining.

I am in love with the Iced London Fog beverage.

You can try it at Starbucks – and it actually is pretty good there.

But the truly delicious version is made locally here in TR at Leopard Forest and it is addictively amazing.

faithful

At Austin and Kelci’s beautiful wedding in Dallas last weekend, the DJ at the reception had all of the married couples get out on the dance floor. (Never mind the fact that the only people left in the audience at that point then were me and all the wedding guests under the age of sixteen and maybe two other people. Not my favorite. But whatever.)

Anyway, my sweet Dale and Sally were dancing away as the DJ asked people to stop dancing if they’d been married ten years, twenty years etc. He made it nearly to FIFTY years and Dale and Sally were still out there dancing.

And that’s what faithful looks like.

Oh it’s just the best sort of beautiful.

feels

I deeply missed having ALL of my kids on our last trip.

But seeing how much fun the three of these kids had together gave me hope for what’s next too.
