five finds friday. (celebrating two years in our home & pleated skirts)

Greetings from Recovering From Sunburn Still. Population: 3.

Ah. Those freckles and fair hair are not serving us well currently.

funny

Finding this on my phone.

What is happening???

fashionable

It’s so funny how styles come and go. And how, if I had saved most of my clothes from the 80s, my daughters would be in heaven about now.

But I did not.

Here’s what else is funny.

The older I get the less I care about fashion and the more I care about liking what I wear and having fun with my clothing choices.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with pleated skirts.

Which I assumed were unfashionable because they used to be trendy and I thought their time had passed.

Turns out – I’m seeing them everywhere again.

I love them. Long. Short. All of them. I don’t care that literal blog posts and articles tell me, “Don’t wear long skirts if you’re short.” Whatever. I will if I want.

I found two long pleated skirts and have been loving them, paired with a tank top or t-shirt tucked in. (I have no idea if I will continue to like them in the fall – because I don’t think they’ll look good with leggings or boots, but maybe I’ll be wrong.) Can I wear them in the fall and winter? With what?

At any rate. I found one at Goodwill, a legit 90s throw back. And one at TJ Maxx. And they are regularly in my rotation.

flavorful

Every time I go to Trader Joe’s, I pick up a container of this. Sometimes two containers because London likes it so much too.

We love it with the Trader Joe corn dippers – which are far superior to Fritos. And I put it on a tomato sandwich last week and that was amazing.

faithful

This week we celebrated two years living in this home – our Burrow.

We threw a micro party. Krispy Kreme donuts and looking through all of the photos we’ve taken since August 20, 2018 – when we moved in.

You guys. We have done a LOT of living in this little brick ranch that I was reluctant to pick.

And it has been GOOD. We laughed at our own hair changes in just two short years. At how big Piper has grown. At all the rearranging every photo revealed. At the changes and improvements we’ve added. New dining room. New deck. New basketball goal. New paint. New laundry room. New kitchen sink. New kitchen counters. New mailbox. New front door color.

We each prayed and thanked God for what we have grown to love about living here – climate control, incredible neighbors, cozy rooms.

And Otto remarked, as we scrolled through literally THOUSANDS of photos, “We’ve had a lot of good friends in our house.”

Yeah, son. We have.

feels

Someone sent me these photos of little Piper and little Otto this week and it’s just stirring up SO MANY FEELINGS.
