five finds friday (if, in fact, it actually IS friday)

This week was our spring break.

Talk about a staycation.

I think I’m a pretty fun person. But I haven’t been all that fun this week.

It’s sort of like I’m on mute or something. My volume is turned down.

And I don’t really care.

It’s going to be a real challenge to crank out five items here. Because, pretty much, there’s nothing going on over at our house.

funny

For break week the kids asked if we could have our own Treat Yo’self day.

Since we had literally no other plans and I didn’t care at all, I said yes.

I thought they’d make cool snacks, maybe ask for a lot of desserts or something.

All they actually wanted to do was play video games and watch movies all day long.

I actually mean ALL day long.

Well. Whatever.

Treat yo’self.

The real treat though?

They pretty much needed nothing from me all day long and I sat on the porch and read many chapters of a novel, painted my toenails purple, held a quiet Zoom meeting, ate popcorn at four o’clock and lounged around aimlessly.

Treat myself I guess.

And I only had to work mildly hard to not think of it as a total wasted day and to not view myself as the world’s laziest parent.

fashionable

You guys. Seriously?

Fashionable?

Not currently.

With warmer days I am realizing that my wardrobe for the transitional days is quite lacking.

I don’t own any shorts and I forgot that every spring I cringe to embrace bare white legs and skirts without leggings.

Also. I guess it’s just something about being at your house for days and weeks on end, but I want to cut every bit of my hair off.

flavorful

We made homemade ice cream this week because, although I ran out of milk, I somehow had an excess of heavy whipping cream.

We made peppermint chocolate chip and Otto suggested we use mint from yard.

We did.

It was a perfect addition. It tasted so fresh and cool. Best batch I’ve made in ages.

I used this recipe and added in about 10 or 15 drops of peppermint essential oil before putting it in the fridge.

While it was swirling around in the machine, I added fresh torn up bits of mint leaves and handfuls of mini chocolate chips.

faithful

It’s been difficult to focus. To remember what week it is. To keep any sense of the holy before me.

My sweet cards created by Beth do help though.

feels

This week I received a message from one of our favorite bands – The Okee Dokee Brothers.

Yes! A message!

They’re releasing a new album and they wanted to see if I would review it and talk about it and YOU KNOW I WILL!

So – I can’t wait for that. I’m working up enough nerve to make a pitch to them that Piper would do a Zoom interview with them for fun and to go along with the review. Think they’ll say yes??

We’re going to be real friends soon, aren’t we?
