Five Finds Friday (green woods, red carpets, golden donuts)

Someone tell me how many Fridays we get to have with our kids before they turn eighteen.  I’m sure it’s a number that’s too small and will make us all sad.

FUNNY

My friend Micah has been joining us at the table for more than six years.

Tonight a couple of my big kids (I had to wear heels to be taller than them) and a couple of friends donned some fancy duds and headed downtown to a red carpet premiere to support Micah’s latest project – a series entitled UnSuper about the lives of a handful of super heroes.

Our family loves Micah and his wife and we were thrilled to sit in an audience and support what he’s doing.

You can watch the trailer for the series here.

The series will be released in short videos beginning today!

It was so fun to dress up and to give a hug and a high five to a truly fantastic guy.

FASHIONABLE

So a friend of mine has just signed on to be a LuLaRoe consultant.  (I think it’s called a “consultant”.  I don’t actually know.)  Also.  I have no idea how to pronounce the business name!

I’ve never heard of LuLaRoe but their stuff looks SO cute that I can’t wait to try it out.

I am especially looking forward to checking out this dress — it just says AUTUMN to me and I am all about anything that is saying AUTUMN right now.

Also.  I am equally stoked to see their leggings.  The colors and patterns are drawing me right in – you know all winter I just wear a uniform of boots and leggings so I loves me some variety.

Have any of you ever tried LuLaRoe?

FLAVORFUL

This one is such an easy choice this week.

These donuts are so good that London has already made three batches of them.

Yeah, sure.  Some would call that excessive.

But then those people don’t live at our house.

FAITHFUL

Late evening chats with friends.  Good words and uplifting texts from friends.

The reminder that what is impossible for me to do alone, God can do in me.

The reality that God is not asking me to be mess-free and all together.  That I can come right to him and shove all the junk and the frustration and the confusion – the stuff that seems ugly and broken and hopeless – and I can leave it all in a dirty heap of rotting garbage at His feet.

And He. Will. Handle. It.

FEELS

This week we spent a glorious day in the woods of Pisgah.

There are a lot of good good places in this world.  Beauty and trees and breathable air and sweet sweet sunshine.

Pisgah is most certainly one of those places.

Magical.  A little bit like a fairy land.  Only good things happen in Pisgah.

And FREE

Okay, so this isn’t a normal one on my Five Finds Friday, but hey – whatever.

If you are a South Carolina resident, you can win $50 just for sharing how you and your kids like to learn outside of the typical school confines.

Nope.  You don’t have to be a homeschooler.  You just have to have kids who you take on adventures and expose to learning in non-classroom situations.  Which we ALL do if we are parents.

All you have to do is visit the South Carolina Academy’s website and share your photo with the hashtag #OutsideSchoolWalls.  You can enter every day and five winners are being selected each week.

Good luck!
