HomeLife

here we go …

Well February came up real fast on us now, didn’t it?

Over the last few weeks I have:

  • Lived life with five teenagers.
  • Readjusted to having London home again as she begins local college classes.
  • And by readjusted, I actually don’t really mean that. I love having her home and she’s been a fabulous help – dishes and meals and driving siblings. But that late night college life schedule is hard to curb once you’ve gotten a taste for it. And it does NOT partner well with a thirteen year old. Or a forty nine year old, to tell the truth.
  • Created a gallery wall in my house that I just really love.
  • Made the decision to (slowly and methodically) step away from leadership at our co op over the next six months or so.
  • Listened to a LOT of Zach Bryan.
  • Had my work Instagram taken over by a hacker and realized that IG has zero customer support and no real system to recover stolen property.
  • Spent more than four hours at the DMV in efforts to help one child put his purchased car in his name on a title and to help one child procure her learner’s permit.
  • Spent countless drives with said new driver. I think we’re both doing pretty great this go round.
  • Searched (fruitlessly) for a Toyota to add to our family’s used car lot, also known as our driveway.
  • Been rejected by one agent.
  • Submitted my book proposal to a new agent. (Crickets thus far.)
  • Bought Jen Hatmaker’s new cookbook and learned how to make marinara from NO JAR! (Also made delicious biscuits and pizza dough and curry and probably a few other things – it’s a fabulous little cookbook.)
  • Had a few doctor’s appointments because being a grown up in a grown up body sometimes means things fall apart a little bit. And regular maintenance is suggested.
  • Took a pottery class with Bergen where my clay flew off my wheel but eventually I sort of wrestled it into a bowl-like object. While Berg, on the other hand, made a darling coordinated cup and bowl set.
  • Interviewed our state’s Lt. Governor for work.
  • Had my hair cut and colored because a nine year old noticed a good bit of gray in my hair. (Kidding. He DID notice it, but I colored my hair because I like it blonde and I get to decide that.)
  • Attended a fun and quirky theatrical production of Pride & Prejudice with Piper.

And this weekend I get on a plane with two of the kids and head to Guatemala for a week.

Am I packed?

Almost.

Tell me about your blink-it’s-already-over-January!

Feed These People is so good! We literally begged Jen to write a cookbook for years and she finally did! First cookbook I’ve ever read cover to cover. I’ve made at least a dozen recipes (including House Sauce for the first time last week). I’m obsessed with it.
