God's Pursuit of Me,  HomeLife

five finds friday (the best popcorn, a great sermon, ear cuffs and we need a new funny show)

The entire family knew, going into the summer, that this week would be a wild one.

Art camp for one. Math classes all week for two. Birthday party. School planning session.

And all the regular stuff. Jobs. Meals. And my dad visiting us too.

It’s been a good week but I’m thankful to see the weekend around the corner.

funny

Lately I’ve been obsessed with Jimmy Fallon’s hashtags. #WhyILostMyJob #MyPetIsWeird #WhyI’mSingle and so on.

They are hilarious and ludicrous. The length of the videos is just the right time – short and sweet.  But if you’ve got more than a minute – it’s okay to watch six of them.

Also. We need a new comedy. It needs to be a sitcom. It needs to be funny. It needs to be basically appropriate. It’s for the teens and myself. We just finished Parks & Rec. (Although I had to skip pretty much any scene where Tammy enters the room, most of it was appropriate and it’s arguably the funniest show on TV.)

I’m not ready for them to watch The Office yet I don’t think and I just can’t seem to locate any sitcom that is not basically eighty percent sexual innuendos.

fashionable

I have mentioned earrings on this post about thirty two billion times.

But have I ever mentioned Sarah Briggs jewelry?

A friend of mine has been wearing her jewelry and I love it.

I especially adore the ear cuffs.

I wear mine up higher than this but I like them anywhere on the ear.

You can stack them and they look great with zero commitment to add another piercing when I am actually kind of scared of needles.

I want to own dozens!

flavorful

This is my very favorite brand of popcorn.

It’s my favorite movie snack.

It’s my on the road choice for keeping me awake when I’m feeling sleepy.

(I don’t drink coffee – I eat kettle corn.)

feels

I love watching my big kids love on their nephews.

It’s precious.

They are so full of love and kindness to them.

It’s really fantastic.

faithful

Our church has been going through a series of teachings on loneliness.

Each week a different topic is addressed.  Last week it was Loneliness in Technology.  Really great stuff. (Also, the speaker was from New Zealand.  So – accents make everything better.)

My family missed church one Sunday because we were in Virginia. The sermon topic we missed was Loneliness in Marriage & Singleness.  I wasn’t sure I was even sad to miss that one because it seemed like maybe it wouldn’t be my favorite sermon anyways.

But I was mid project last weekend and decided to go ahead and listen to the recorded version while I cleaned.

This is a link for it here.

If you have time, maybe you can listen to it as well.

Turns out, it was fabulous. Timely. Deep. Practical. Fair minded. Well rounded.

I’m thankful I heard it.

We are enjoying “Corner Gas” on Amazon Prime Video. It’s a Canadian sitcom “with not a lot going on.” I like the wackiness of it. I find myself bursting out laughing at least once an episode.

Assuming you and your family have already seen “The Kids are Alright”? If not, Hulu. Awesome show! It’s my childhood in a nutshell!

Also, YES to kettle corn! Always!

Oh my word YES – I have talked about like 32 times to even strangers. It is the BEST new thing on TV in ages. The witty Mom conversations. The brothers. All of it!
