five finds friday (or maybe four. help me pick out curtains please.)

This week my brain has been on food far too much.  It’s one side effect I am not enjoying about Whole 30 – I feel as if all I’m thinking about is food – when to make it, what I can have, what I cannot have.

At this point, London and I are going to attempt to finish the 30 days based almost entirely on the fact that we want to prove to ourselves that we can.  That’s it.

funny

We’re not at cell phone level yet (ugh, but I know the time is coming) but the big kids use email and whenever they have to email me, it’s  usually pretty funny.  Heavy on the sarcastic or ludicrous and it always makes me laugh.

Like this sincere response ….

fashionable

One of the rooms in our house definitely needs curtains.  I’m not great at choosing curtains.  Partially because we’ve frequently lived places where you just didn’t need them.  And partially because it’s a big color commitment.  And they are not cheap.

Right now I have some borrowed curtains hanging.  They’re certainly doing their job – keeping out light and prying eyes.  And the curtains themselves are actually nice.  But because I chose gray walls, these khaki linen curtains are not cutting it, color wise.

I like the texture of them.  But I’d love some advice and ideas.

Where should I look to find a good deal on curtains?

Here’s what I do like — a pattern.  Not a floral pattern.  Not chevron stripes.  I prefer the big circles up top instead of these enclosed options.  The ones that look like giant metal grommets basically?  I think they slide more easily out of the way and I like to keep the curtains open during the day usually.  I’d love if the other side looks pretty too – is that a thing in curtains?  Because you clearly see these when you pull up in our driveway and I want them to be pretty even from the outside.

The colors I like throughout my house are yellow, red and turquoise.  But maybe I don’t want all of that in a curtain.  I keep thinking I’ve seen some quirky sweet bird ones, but every time I google that combo – weird options pop up that are too hectic looking.

I like the top of these curtains a lot —

If you feel so inclined – send me your ideas or links!

(Plus – are curtains supposed to go to the floor?  Sit on the floor?  Drape on the floor?  Pile up on the floor?  Just stop at the window?)

flavorful

The food we’ve eaten for Whole 30 has been tasty often.  It’s just been time consuming for regular life.

We all loved this recipe – Turkey Squash Chili.

feels

I like laughing with these yahoos.  They’re becoming such interesting humans.
